Chris,

Thanks for providing me the opportunity to review the summary of the meeting minutes we had on May 9, 2007.  I was hoping you could forward an action plan developed by the City to hopefully determine the source/cause of the odor problems being experienced in this area.

The following maintenance tasks are scheduled to further diagnose and correct odor problems in the Cypress Hills area:

  1. Friday, 5/11/07 – The line originating at the manhole in front of 215 Cypress Hills Drive through the back lot easement (behind 219, 215, 205,  & 195 Cypress Hills Drive and  107 & 111 Stanford Ct.) will be TV inspected.  The manholes along the above mention alignment will be checked and resealed to prevent odors from escaping directly.

The TV inspection will determine if there are structural defects or alignment issues that might create traps in the line.  The sealing and re-sealing of the manholes will eliminate direct venting of odors from the mainline.  If odors persist or increase inside or outside of the homes, please contact the City.

  2. Monday, 5/14/07 – The line starting at the manhole in the Lidster Cul De Sac, continuing down Cypress Hills, and along the back lot easement  (behind 219, 215, 205,  &195 Cypress Hills Drive and  107 & 111 Stanford Ct.) will be hydroflushed.
Meanwhile, the maintenance routine at Slate Creek Lift Station has been stepped up to include a complete back draining of the forced main combined with complete pumping and washout of the wet well on a weekly basis.

The City’s sewer gas (H2S) [hydrogen sulfide] detector is currently undergoing a battery replacement and calibration.  When the detector comes back from the factory, the City will start monitoring H2S levels again starting at Lidster Ave., moving downstream along the sewer line.  If any of the residents are willing to allow us to place a monitor in their home we will be glad to do that as well.  This will hopefully help City staff to locate the source of the odors, so that solution to this issue can be developed.

Thanks,

Tim Kiser, P.E.

Hi Tim,

When you have the time, would you review the summary of the meeting we had yesterday evening?

Please let me know if anything needs to be reworded, or if there are things that need to be added.
